Things that are important to me: nature (I'm an ecologist and science writer), writing (novelist too), and growthful experiences (including travel).

I'm an introvert, we tend to form a few very deep relationships. I am a very good and supportive friend. High EQ. People call me deep. Honest and sincere. I also have a dry sense of humour.

Technically I am Australian but I never belonged. I've been very international for a very long time. I lived abroad three times and travelled a lot. I know Asia and asians best.

I'm outdoorsy, but not in a competitive or sporty way. Mainly it's about nature. I do it mainly for enjoyment. I have several nature-related hobbies including photography. I often do writing work at cafes, but nearly always outdoors.

I spent a lot of time in universities, including teaching in several, but I have gone off it now. Too much silliness. Now I prefer direct experience. But I always enjoy intellectual people and topics. I am strongly attracted to quirky or different people.

I don't look or feel anything like my actual age, which sounds conceited, but it's true. In fact age barely matters to me at all.

Technically divorced which I mention because I am not hiding it. But it was good divorce. My ex-wife is 18 years older than me. We're still friends although she's in a nursing home.

I am also highly ethical and principled.

I don't actually talk about myself all that much but I will answer any questions.

I might be heading for Germany, Korea and/or japan in future.
