HOBBIES:
I am a musician. I get out and play around town pretty often. There is nothing more fun. If you're interested, ask and I will let you know where you can come and see me play!
(Note that I have not posted a photo of an oversized truck that subconsciously compensates for...well, you know... Nor have I posted a photo of myself gloating over a dead fish. No fish has ever pissed me off that much.)
I LIKE:
computers, musical instruments, warm weather, dogs staying up late, fireplaces, going out to dinner after a hectic day, pacing, bicycle riding (without a helmet!), record albums, craft beer, watching spring rain on back porch, cooking outdoors on the grill, building things in my woodworking shop, newspapers, anything electronic, traveling to exotic places.
I'M AGGRAVATED BY:
computers, traffic, alarm clocks, country & western music, rap "music," going to bed, getting out of bed, sitting still, invasive airport security ("Hey pal, there's no bomb up there...ooh, that usually costs me dinner and a movie!" )
STUFF I KNOW:
Math is not fuzzy. Ageing is not graceful. Greed is not good. It's not hip to be square. Money does not equal speech. A man in a wig and a dress is not a woman. Disco still sucks. One kind word can mean more than all the love in paradise.
FAVORITE READING:
I read a lot, mostly history and current events...NY Times, etc. Sometimes novels. Plus anything with a font that's big enough for me to read without my reading glasses, no matter the content, just because it makes me feel better about myself.
FAVORITE SPOTS:
I am constantly finding excuses to get out on my bicycle. So much more relaxing than driving in this traffic. It's fun to just find a barstool somewhere. Or for running errands, going to the gym, or just riding for the sake of riding. On the other end of the spectrum, I love to throw a dart at the map and just take off. It's a big world out there. I've found that nothing broadens ones perspective more than travel.
VOCATION:
Because it always comes up sooner or later -- usually sooner -- "What do you do for a living?" Here's the obligatory segment where I assure you that I'm financially secure while being careful not to brag.
The first segment of my professional life revolved around video production -- both as a producer and a college instructor. The second segment was spent in computer programming.
I was fortunate enough to get into programming just at the right time, work hard and make careful decisions, which have allowed me to retire a few years early. So my days now are spent doing pretty much whatever I want, which is the way is should be. In my world, every day is Saturday.
