I'm quick to laugh, and quick to cry. I laugh—a lot—even when I'm by myself. I am a little reclusive and have no problem being alone but I also enjoy meeting new people. I've taken a very round-about way to get where I am in life and truly believe that when one door shuts another one opens. I enjoy touching people and being touched, although it took me a long time to learn that lesson. I consider myself a scholar and an intellectual, but you couldn't tell by looking at me and I don't take myself or life too seriously. I teach college and absolutely love what I do. I can't imagine doing anything else. I also truly believe that the value of life comes from what we contribute to it, not what we get from it, and I know that I have a positive impact on my students, even the ones I fail, although they probably won't think so for a while. I still can't believe how much I enjoy working with the young adults. It keeps me growing spiritually and emotionally, and it keeps me humble.
